AbstractSolar-driven, selective biomass hydrogenation is recognized as a promising route to renewable chemicals production, but remains challenging. Here, we report a TiO2 supported Cu single-atom catalyst with a four-coordinated Cu1−O4 structure, which can be universally applied for solar-driven production of various renewable chemicals from lignocellulosic biomass-derived platform molecules with good yields using green methanol as a hydrogen donor, to address this challenge.

1. IntroductionThe mining industry is one of the most energy-intensive industries in the world, comprising 11% of world energy consumption, 38% of industrial energy usage, and 15% of electricity consumption [1]. In the beneficiation plant, the pulverization circuit is the most energy-consuming unit. As an important equipment in the pulverization circuit, the semi-autogenous (SAG) mill consumes a lot of electricity but has a low energy utilization rate [2].
