In a June 4 news release, the police department said after a thorough investigation and after consultation with the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office, charges wouldn't be filed against the man who reportedly shot and killed 26-year-old Andy Garcia Porras on Rankin Avenue.

NORTH CAROLINA (WLOS) — Sharon Decker, the President of Tryon Equestrian Partners Carolinas Operations and former North Carolina Secretary of Commerce is joining the Governor's Recovery Office for Western North Carolina (GROW NC). Monday, June 2, marks five months to the day since Gov. Josh Stein established GROW NC; Decker, one of two new team members, will be the Senior Advisor for Long-Term Recovery. In that capacity, Decker said she will be developing a 3-to-5-year recovery plan.
