Prosecutors allege the sixth-year councilwoman on July 23, 2024, falsified signatures on the nominating petition forms of another individual who sought a seat on the council in the November 2024 election, Eric A. SAGINAW, MI — A comedian known for her five-year stint as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” and a starring role in a reboot of “Ghostbusters” will perform a stand-up act in downtown Saginaw this fall. Leslie Jones will appear at The Temple Theatre Friday, Sept. 19. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, at templetheatre.com. Ticket costs start at $40, theater officials said. Jones was a cast member and writer on the NBC sketch comedy series, “Saturday Night Live,” from 2014-19.

SAGINAW, MI — Mosquito control officials discovered a lone adult Aedes aegypti — known as “the yellow fever mosquito” — for the first time in Saginaw County.”Considered an invasive mosquito to North America, the yellow fever mosquito can transmit diseases to people, including the Zika, dengue and viruses, Saginaw County Mosquito Abatement Commission Director William Stanuszek said in a statement.

BAY CITY, MI — Laura Marie Kubit, an attorney with the Michigan Advocacy Program, will serve as the newest member of the Bay City Commission. In a 6-0 vote, commissioners appointed Kubit to the city’s 1st Ward post, which was vacated in April, when then-Commission President Stephen Prince stepped down. Kubit’s term expires in December 2026.
