SAGINAW, MI — Residents flocked to downtown Saginaw to participate in the fourth annual Saginaw Juneteenth Celebration Freedom Parade and Festival on Saturday, June 21. The event launched with the parade, which involved participants traveling down South Washington Avenue, beginning at Hoyt Park to Morley Plaza. Rollin on 3 Michigan Chapter President Quintisha Walker was one of the parade participants and she was one of 10 motorcyclists in the parade.

BROOKLYN, MI – A 1986 Busch Light-branded bus got pulled over on its way to Michigan International Speedway. Not for going too fast. The only way the bus hits 70 mph is when it’s going downhill. They were pulled over for a defective exhaust – which shouldn’t be a surprise, because owner Robert Caswell said the bus is so loud, “you can’t talk when we’re on the highway.”“Then (the police officer) asked us if we were coming here,” Caswell said. It was a good guess.

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers took down the Chicago White Sox 7-4 Friday as they returned to a packed Comerica Park for Opening Day. Kerry Carpenter kicked off the Tigers’ scoring with a first-inning homer, then hit another dinger in the fourth to extend Detroit’s lead. Riley Greene hit the longest shot of the game - a 417-foot bomb to right field in the sixth that left the bat at 114.3 mph.

DETROIT — Detroit baseball fans celebrated a balmy Opening Day at Comerica Park Friday as they tailgated before the Tigers hosted the Chicago White Sox. The weather was mostly sunny with a high of 49 degrees as fans packed Witherell Street and nearby bars, intersections and parking lots. Danny Asfa of Troy played grillmaster as he and a group of friends cooked sausages and cuts of beef just a few hundred feet from the ballpark – a 20-year tradition.
