AbstractIntroduction: The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted research globally. How it impacted Canadian early-career health researchers (ECHRs) remains unclear. We administered a survey to understand the composition of ECHRs in Canada, their job experiences, and experiences of burnout during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in May 2023 of Canadian ECHRs defined as within 7 years of their first independent research position.

AbstractTreatment response and resistance in major depressive disorder (MDD) are suggested to be heritable. Due to significant challenges in defining treatment-related phenotypes, our understanding of their genetic bases is limited. This study aimed to derive a stringent definition of treatment resistance and to investigate the genetic overlap between treatment response and resistance in MDD.

ResultsWe included a total of 106,682 European genetic ancestry samples from 3 countries or sources: Canada, n = 370 (213 with MS, 57%); UKB, n = 105,734 (1,390 with MS, 0.8%); and the United States, n = 578 (100% MS) (Table 1). Persons with MS from the US sample were younger and reported lower rates of smoking, compared with persons with MS in the Canadian and UKB samples (Table 1).
