    The Edmonton Police Foundation and the EPS Bomb Squad hosted its fourth annual Beeping Eggs Project – an easter egg hunt designed for kids living with vision loss or impairment. About 200 audible eggs were hidden around Emily Murphy Park Sunday afternoon for participants to find. Sgt. Ryan Kaucher heard about a similar project in the United States and brought it to the local police force. “We were looking for something to help kids be kids,” Kaucher explained.

    A gardening program meant to serve families experiencing food insecurity has been shut down. Known as City Farms, about five acres of land at the Old Man Creek Nursery was used to grow fresh produce for donation to Edmonton’s Food Bank.     By the summer, Edmonton drivers will need to get used to paying for parking by their phone because the city will be removing the physical payment machines. Jenny Albers, general supervisor of Planning and Permitting with the City of Edmonton, says the machines require upgrades in order to comply with current payment standards. It would have cost the city at least $2.8 million, not including operational costs. To avoid a larger tax increase, city council approved a decision to remove the machines.

    The Alberta government is being accused of clawing back a federal disability benefit by Disability advocates, and they're concerned about people missing out on vital income supports. Starting in June, eligible Canadians can claim up to $200 per month in financial support through the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). Inclusion Alberta says the provincial government is taking the money away from Albertans who receive Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH).
