LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – Southern California is set for a slightly warmer weekend ahead of a storm system that could shower the region with light rain, according to KTLA weather anchor Kaj Goldberg. The Los Angeles area will see daytime highs in the low 70s in the San Fernando Valley and upper 60s in the San Gabriel Valley. The warmer temperatures are due to an offshore flow that began today and will continue through the weekend.

Temperatures will be above normal throughout metropolitan Los Angeles and Southern California through the weekend, with highs in the 70s and lower 80s, except at the beaches. Meteorologists expect locally gusty winds on Friday and Saturday, especially in mountain and foothill areas. Moderate Santa Ana winds are forecasted from Monday night through Wednesday, bringing a drying trend. A shift in the weather pattern could lead to rain starting on Friday the 13th.

KTLA’s Kaj Goldberg says temperatures will be mild throughout the evening, around 60 degrees by 8 p.m., followed by overnight lows in the upper 40s and 50s. Those attending the Dodgers’ World Series victory parade on Friday will also enjoy nice, seasonable weather. The daytime high temperature for downtown Los Angeles will be 71 degrees with clear skies, Goldberg says.

Southern California’s weather is about to take a hard left turn. After a stretch of ideal spring days with highs in the upper 70s and 80s, a low-pressure system will sweep through the region this weekend, bringing cooler temperatures and rain. “A ridge of high pressure over SoCal is breaking down and sliding to the east,” said KTLA 5 News weather anchor Kaj Goldberg.
