    Two women whom I have seen so far to have aged gracefully are my Amma (mother) and Zeenat Aman. These ladies do not have much in common; they belonged on two different ends of spectrums.     If Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had not the lost the parliamentary seat of Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh (UP), where the Ram Mandir is situated, would the Indian elites, intellectuals, critics and others have been talking about Indian secularism being still very much alive? Look at the situation from another angle. After all, the population of Faizabad, less than a million, is not even a percentage of the total Indian population.

It was the collective sigh of relief of millions around the world at the comeuppance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party. The devastating verdict delivered by Indian voters left the ruling party without a majority in parliament and dependent on patently untrustworthy allies to remain in power.
