Del Mar National is one of the West Coast’s oldest and prestigious equestrian events, attracting some of the sport’s most talented athletes to the community.     The new 77-room boutique hotel that is taking shape in Rancho Santa Fe now has a name. Currently under construction, the new “Guesthouse The Hotel at La Valle” is set to open this summer on the La Valle Coastal Club property on Via de la Valle. Since taking over ownership of the former Morgan Run Resort and Club in 2023, Meriwether Properties has plans to invest a total of $35 million into the La Valle Coastal Club’s renovations, a transformation that has included new branding and energy.

    Culinary Dropout just might become the Carmel Valley area’s new favorite hangout. The new restaurant opened April 30 in Del Mar Highlands Town Center, a place for classic comfort food, craft cocktails and live music. For the grand opening, the first 50 customers to arrive received a custom Sector 9 skateboard and the eatery donated 20% of their proceeds to San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation in gratitude for their service during the recent wildfires.

    On a sunny spring day at the beach, the city of San Diego celebrated the completion of an infrastructure project that will keep people better connected to a most “magnificent” stretch of coastline. The seven feet of new smooth and level walkway passes from the Torrey Pines State Beach parking lot under North Torrey Pines Road and out onto the sand.
