The Department of Foreign Affairs is advising Irish citizens in Lebanon to leave on commercial flights while it is still possible as the Israeli bombardment of the country intensifies. More than 100 Irish citizens are in Lebanon and some are struggling to leave during the escalation of the conflict. Taoiseach Simon Harris said the Government is monitoring the situation in relation to the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, adding there are plans in place for all eventualities.

GAA President Jarlath Burns, has said they are "very disappointed" by the UK's decision on Casement Park, but that it does not stop their commitment to getting the stadium rebuilt. "It is just one of many disappointments along this journey to try and get Casement Park rebuilt as a centre of GAA in Belfast," he said. He described how the Tory Government approached the GAA last year with this "wonderful visionary offer" to host some of the games for the Euros.
