Investigation underway after pedestrian dies in Fresno collision

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A pedestrian, believed to be an unhoused man, died after being struck by a vehicle late Saturday night, the Fresno Police Department says. Officers were dispatched to Blackstone Avenue, near Saginaw Way, around 11:15 p.m., for a report of a collision. Police say they arrived to find a man in the roadway who had been hit by a vehicle and was suffering from serious injuries. He died at the scene.

They report that a white Tesla was seen speeding away from the area, and they were able to stop it a short time later. The four people inside told investigators that they’d just been shot at.

Just before 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the 900 block of South K Street after their department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting gunshots heard in the area. Police say they arrived to find an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders provided initial medical aid at the scene before the victim was transported to an area hospital, where he died.
