    Mombasa County Executive Committee Member of Lands Mohamed Hussein has been arrested in connection to the abduction and gang-rape of a blogger who had criticised Governor Abdulswamad Nassir. Coast regional Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Adan Guyo said Mr Hussein, popularly known as Amadoh, was arrested on Sunday. "We are expecting to make more arrests in the coming days," Mr Guyo told Nation on phone as he declined to reveal those on the police radar.

    Police in Mombasa have launched investigations into the disappearance of a taxi driver who went missing on Thursday while ferrying a client. Police spokesperson Resila Onyango on Sunday said Ms Victoria Mumbua Muloki, 35, was driving a white Nissan Serena, registration number KDQ 182F, when she disappeared. The driver’s last communication, according to police, was when she was in Samburu, Kwale County.

    A Saturday night stampede at the Likoni ferry crossing channel in Mombasa once again revealed the risks that commuters go through on a daily basis. At least four people were admitted to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH) after the incident which caused panic in the port city. CGTRH Chief Executive Officer, Dr Iqbal Khandawalla confirmed that the patients suffered injuries in different parts of their bodies.
