Several sport governing bodies, including those for football and netball, have banned transgender women from playing on their women's teams, following the UK Supreme Court's ruling on 15 April that the legal definition of a woman was based on biological sex. FootballThe Football Association said that transgender women will no longer be allowed to play in women's football from 1 June. It is the first major governing sports body to amend its policy.

FIFA is to fund groundbreaking research into whether hormonal fluctuations during menstrual cycles could be contributing to the rise in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in women's football. Arsenal's Beth Mead and Leah Williamson, as well as Manchester City's Vivianne Miedema have all experienced serious ACL injuries. This is a tear or sprain of the strong bands of tissue that connect the thigh bone (femur) to the shin bone (tibia), which run diagonally in the middle of the knee.

An 82-year-old woman has just become the oldest female to perform an abdominal plank for the longest time. Sarah Blackman, born 3 June 1942, was 82 years and 229 days old when she held the forearm plank for 5 minutes and 20 seconds, setting a new Guinness World Record. 'I'm impressed with myself and it was something I didn't expect,' she said, 'but I think I have more confidence.' The previous record was held by Annie Judis, who held the plank for 3 minutes at the age of 80 years and 244 days.
