A good malt whisky is the gift that keeps on giving. Imagine a olefactory kaleidoscope playing on your tongue, in your nose and, sometimes, seemingly, even in your ears. This is more than a taste. This is a developing experience for your head. Can you tell I am a bit of a fan ? To be honest, I am a devout Islay girl, so the Speyside labelling wasn’t exciting for me. However. Glenallachie’s signature malt – Meikle Toir – is peated and punchy and altogether pretty impressive.

Given the nature of this trio of cocktails in their classier than usual little cans, I get my girly head on and tune into Strictly, who are having a gorgeous glitterfest in Blackpool. My co-taster, Ricardo, and I have nibbles and proper cocktail glasses poised and pour the Pink Grapefruit Gin Fizz first. 8%. It is very pink and quite bitter. Next is the Raspberry Cosmo 10%. There is a very definite hint of cough mixture here, Or maybe cheap raspberry cordial which someone has forgotten to dilute.
