The 2025 Major League Baseball season has arrived. We've already put together our team-wide predictions, from division winners to pennants to the World Series championship picks. It's now time to try and nail down the player awards. The fun part about the awards is we're bound to get a mixed bag of chalk and shock. The MVPs last season were Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, but the Cy Young winners were Tarik Skubal and a 35-year-old Chris Sale. Who had Luis Gil taking the AL Rookie of the Year?

Sure, two games of the 2,430 scheduled MLB games have already been played for the 2025 regular season (with the Dodgers taking both games against the Cubs in Tokyo last week). Everything else is still to come, though, and the real Opening Day arrives on Thursday. And as the season gets going in earnest, it's time to get to the predictions. As is always the case, there will be surprises and, unfortunately, some predictable things will happen.

The 2025 MLB season is nearly here, and we're onto Day 2 of season predictions from the CBS Sports MLB staff. On Monday, we all laid out our predictions for how each of the six divisions would finish, 1-5, and picked our three wild-card teams in each league. Here, we'll take the next step and lay out who we think will still be standing at the end of the season. Below, we're picking our pennant winners in both leagues plus our 2025 World Series champion. Let's rock.

Sure, two games of the 2,430 scheduled games have already been played for the 2025 Major League Baseball season, with the Dodgers taking both games against the Cubs in Tokyo. Everything else is still to come, though, and MLB is sticking with the Opening Day branding for Thursday, March 27. That means we'll just pretend the season hasn't actually started. It's now time to get to the predictions. As is always the case, there will be surprises and, unfortunately, some predictable things will happen.

Okay but that's worse???

David Peterson was not dealing with an injury on the mound today, which is why he stayed in as long as he did. He was experiencing nausea and blurred vision. "He felt like he got punched in the stomach," Carlos Mendoza said.
