VALLEY HEAD, Ala. (WAFF) - Four people were charged after shots were reportedly fired into a Valley Head home on Monday, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened around 6:20 p.m. at a residence on County Road 1001. Deputies responded to the scene and saw what appeared to be bullet strikes into the residence and an unoccupied vehicle at the scene.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - A shooting on Thursday night injured a man in Huntsville, according to officials with the Huntsville Police Department. Police said the shooting happened after 7 p.m. around Clopton Street and Elm Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital. He is expected to survive. The case is being investigated by the Violent Crimes Unit. WAFF will update with more information as it becomes available.

On Thursday, more details were revealed about the After School Bash. Teachers and students across Huntsville will head to Big Spring Park this June for an evening of activities, food, and lots of family fun. This is a community celebration that is doubling as a donation drive to support teachers in the Huntsville-metro area.

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Former Decatur Police officer Mac Marquette has filed a new appeal over claims of immunity in his murder case, according to court documents obtained by WAFF. Marquette’s defense attorneys asked a Morgan County judge to stay next month’s trial pending the outcome of their motion with the state court of criminal appeals. Marquette claims immunity in the 2023 shooting death of Steve Perkins in the line of duty.

SHEFFIELD, Ala. (WAFF) - A juvenile is in custody, accused of making a social media threat toward Sheffield City Schools. The Sheffield Police Department said Sheffield City Schools officials notified the department following a threat made Wednesday in a social media post. A large police presence was at the school on Thursday while investigators worked to find the suspect. The juvenile was found in Florence and was taken to the juvenile detention center.
