    DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - Family and friends said their loved one is innocent in the shooting death of his best friend. Ronald Bland was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Akera Harris. Bland was granted a $50,000 bond Friday. His family told WAFF this is a step in the right direction, but justice has not yet been served. Bland’s mother, Maemell Bailey, described her son as kind, gentle, and without any enemies.

    DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - A balloon release in Decatur Thursday night was held to honor a mother who was shot and killed last weekend. Akera Harris was shot on West Moulton Street early Saturday morning. Ronald Bland was arrested in connection with this shooting. Harris’ long-time friend Caliyah Ford told WAFF that she was a kind, loving mother, daughter and friend. She said Harris had a special connection with her mother and cared very deeply about her daughter.
