    AbstractPeople living with HIV are at higher risk of heart failure and associated left atrial remodeling compared to people without HIV. Mechanisms are unclear but have been linked to inflammation and premature aging. Here we obtain plasma proteomics concurrently with cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in two independent study populations to identify parallels between HIV-related and aging-related immune dysfunction that could contribute to atrial remodeling and clinical heart failure.

    City Convenience at Warren Towers installed three new self-checkout kiosks, in addition to the registers operated by cashiers. The new registers were installed as “part of an upgrade to the CityCo experience,” Boston University Spokesperson Colin Riley wrote in an email to The Daily Free Press. The machines were designed to be more convenient and speed up the check-out process, according to Riley.

    The Boston University Student Government discussed pushback from the University regarding an admissions diversity statement and endorsed a focus group for the MyBU student portal in its meeting yesterday. Student Body President Akwasi Antwi said the BU administration deemed the diversity statement endorsed at the last meeting “not appropriate” to share with the student body.

    The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department’s crime logs from Sept. 29 to Oct. 4. Noise complaint at 5 Buswell St. At 10:27 p.m. on Sept. 29, a caller reported a motorcyclist “looping the block loudly” for 20 minutes. Fire alarm/code red at 808 Commonwealth Ave. At 2:19 p.m. on Sept. 30, a caller reported a smoking object in front of the building. The Boston Fire Department was on the scene. The item was a dropped cell phone that had caught on fire.

    Boston University transitioned its Wi-Fi system to the federated “eduroam” service in an effort to reduce overlapping services and provide students with internet access at other educational institutions, according to University officials. Students were given three networks to choose from in the previous system: “BU Guest (unencrypted),” “BU (802.1x)” and “eduroam.”The university retired BU (802.1x) in June, leaving only eduroam and BU Guest available for connection.
