The Student Government Association (SGA)’s most recent general assembly meeting saw the appointments of three new senators, the introduction of one new position, and continued debate over Emerson’s current attendance policy. At their Friday meeting, DJ Mara, a sophomore political communications major, met with the general assembly via Zoom to be formally introduced for the abroad programs senator position. If elected next week, Mara will be the first abroad programs senator.

Emerson community members woke up Wednesday to the news that former President Donald Trump had won the 2024 presidential election and would hold office for the next four years. In the hours following the news, the sentiment from students, faculty, and staff was emotional, with many expressing fear for the future and disbelief at the results. Omar Bican, a junior visual media arts major, said he woke up feeling hopeful.

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched from the Boston Common and through Boston on Sunday before blocking traffic and rallying outside the Israeli consulate. Protesters rallied to criticize Israel’s military actions on Gaza since Oct. 7 and its escalation into neighboring Lebanon. The protest route, which Boston Police Department (BPD) officials said did not receive permits through the city, looped from the Common along Beacon Street before coming to Storrow Drive.
