On Monday, the Living Learning Community at Kasteel Well hosted students, politicians, artists, academics, and scientists for the first-ever Kasteel Well Forum in the final days of the spring 2025 semester. An all-day event attended by a crowd of roughly 150, the forum marked the first time in the Kasteel program’s 40-year history that stakeholders from the community of Well and surrounding local areas were invited onto campus to see how students are learning and interacting with Dutch culture.

For Anna Bigelow, traveling to Barcelona has been a long-time dream. Bigelow and her younger brother, both fluent Spanish speakers, had once planned a mock trip to the Spanish city for a project in grade school. Their dream was finally realized while Anna was on a travel break from studying at Emerson’s Kasteel Well campus in the Netherlands this semester.

A grenade was found by facilities workers at Kasteel Well while working in the gardens in front of the Voorburcht, a residence building for students, late Thursday morning. The device was from World War II and of English origin, Emerson College European Center officials confirmed in an incident report shared with the Boston campus.

Last November, late into the night, Kasteel Well students watched with bated breath as Donald Trump won the 2024 election. This semester, many said they chose to skip the 47th president’s inauguration ceremony altogether. Trump was inaugurated on Monday in the Capitol Rotunda, ceremonially recognizing his political comeback four years in the making.
