(This is Democracy Now !, democracynow.org, The War and Peace Report. I’m Amy Goodman, with Juan González).

Statement from Katherine Franke, January 10, 2025For the last year and a half, as students at Columbia University and across the globe have protested against the Israeli government’s genocidal assault on Palestinians after the October 2023 attacks, a response that has resulted in horrendous devastation in Gaza, I have ardently defended students’ right to peaceful protest on our campus and across the country.

I break down: @zohrankmamdani is not a communist, there is a difference between socialism and communism, and he can't have his US citizenship stripped and be deported. Yet, the kinds of attacks against him should peak our attention. https://t.co/dVx99dPzT1

Reading the SCOTUS cases from this term as a whole, one take away: the dignity of & harm caused to some (eg trans ppl, preg ppl & POC) are invisible to the maj of the Ct, while the dignity & rights of others are hyper-visible (religious conservatives & white ppl).
