Police are investigating after someone caused a six-foot poster stand to crush a person’s ankle at Waterloo underground station. British Transport Police believe an individual, pictured, may have information that could help their investigation. The incident took place at around 7.40pm on Tuesday, February 13. A person was seen shouting on a Jubilee line train before getting off at Waterloo and heading for the escalators. On reaching the escalator, the person pulled down a six-foot poster stand.

Families are invited to discover the creatures and creepy crawlies living at an East Dulwich wildlife garden on Saturday, April 20. The Pond Life Family Day at the Centre for Wildlife Gardening, 28 Marsden Road, will take place from 10am till 3pm. Open to Southwark residents only, visitors will enjoy pond dipping, crafts, games and story-telling. One adult may bring up to three children. The event is free but a £3 deposit is required.

Southwark Council has confirmed it will conduct audits of “shambles” major works projects that led to a combined £5.9 million overspend and staff suspensions. Works on the Canada and Devon Mansions estates, in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, have seen residents complain of shoddy workmanship, with some leaseholders paying thousands towards the projects.

A man has been jailed for a minimum of 29 years for stabbing his wife to death before starting a house fire to conceal the murder. Jurors found Amidu Koroma, 48, of Railton Road, Brixton, guilty of murdering Mariam Kamara, 46, on Thursday, October 12, following a trial at the Old Bailey. He also received a concurrent seven-year sentence for arson. Police described the murder as “brutal” and said that starting a fire to cover his tracks “put other members of the public at risk”.
