A Santa Maria grocery store was destroyed by a fire Tuesday night. Santa Maria Fire Marshal Jim Austin says firefighters responded to a fire alarm call at Lassen’s Natural Food on the 1700 block of South Broadway at 11:44 p.m. Once 911 calls started coming in, additional engines were sent.

Power outages were impacting people in parts of Cayucos Saturday morning. The largest outage was reported at around 7:45 a.m. and was reportedly impacting 1,169 PG&E customers along both sides of Highway 1 and a portion of Old Creek Road as of 8:34 a.m.Another outage just north along the town’s coast started about 10 minutes earlier and was impacting 190 customers as of 8:34 a.m., according to PG&E. The utility company reports causes of both outages are under investigation.

For the second time this week, SpaceX is set to launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The NROL-192 mission has a launch time of 5:25 a.m. Saturday, April 12, from SLC-4E. If the Falcon 9 does not liftoff at that time, crews will try again Sunday starting at 5:09 a.m.Following stage separation, the mission’s first-stage booster is set to land on the Of Course I Still Love Your droneship in the Pacific Ocean. It’s the 24th time this first-stage booster has been used.

Its a centennial celebration for a former San Luis Coastal Unified School District superintendent. The California Retired Teachers Association, Division 23 put on the event at the Madonna Inn Thursday to celebrate Dr. Bill Newmans 100th birthday. So surprising and Im just saying wow, because I cant believe what theyre doing for me, just, uh, letting me know its nice to be close to 100 and its nice to be with them, Newman told KSBY.
