The Johnson City Police Department arrested David Short, 25, of Johnson City for aggravated kidnapping. According to a press release, JCPD officers responded to a report of kidnapping at a residence on North Roan Street. The release states the investigation revealed Short took his child, of whom he does not have custody, from the home and was later found in Jonesborough. Short was taken into custody with the help of the Jonesborough Police Department on Tuesday.

The news broke on Tuesday afternoon: Bill Owens, the longtime executive producer of 60 Minutes, resigned from his post. If you read between the lines, he might have been fired for failing to fall in line with Paramount Global owner Shari Redstone’s vision of what news should be. Either way, this is another serious blow to journalism and another shameful acquiescence to the Trump administration.

John Ullyot is a former chief Pentagon spokesman and led communications at the National Security Council and the Dept of Veterans Affairs in President Trump’s first term. He resigned from the Pentagon last week. He was a senior communications adviser on Trump’s 2016 campaign.
