Over $150,000 in grant money will be awarded for learning resources to 30 schools in the Columbia Public School District. The money is slated to bring new books, equipment and programming to elementary, middle and high schools as well as district-wide programs. The Columbia Public Schools Foundation is a private, volunteer-based organization that funds projects at schools across the district.

Since beginning private practice at Boone Clinic in 1987, Robin Blount has served patients from all over Missouri, both as a private practice clinician for 28 years and as chief medical officer of Boone Health since 2015. After 38 years of service, Blount is retiring from her full time position at Boone Health. Boone Health announced this fall that Blount would step back following a national search to fill her role as chief medical officer.

According to Yale Medicine, alpha-gal is a sugar found in the tissues of all mammals except humans and other primates.

The ceremony was held at the Boone County History and Culture Center. The portrait will be among others featured on a float in the annual New Year's Day Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
