Days after a black bear was seen roaming through Gallatin, the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency said its officers removed the remains of a bear from a major state route in the area. The news comes as reports of an escaped zebra on the loose in Rutherford County continues to captivate Middle Tennessee residents via social media. Most say they are hopeful for a different―and much safer―outcome for the animal. As of June 4, the zebra had still evaded authorities.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed House Bill 1200, known as "Savanna's Law", on May 21 in honor of 22-year-old Robertson County Sheriff’s Deputy Savanna Puckett. The new law will create a registry at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for people convicted of a second and subsequent domestic violence offense and make offender information public.
