WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, is launching the Reclaimed Water Project—a groundbreaking initiative aimed at conserving water while maintaining its 20-acre gardens. Kansas is currently facing drought conditions and rising water costs. In response, city engineers and operations workers found a way to capture test water from the new Wichita Water Works Facility to be used by Botanica. The reclaimed water is safe for watering plants in the gardens, but not for drinking.

Now, the community is rallying behind Austin Tran, with nearly 10,000 people signing an online petition to reinstate his title. Bishop Carroll Catholic High School asked Tran to return his valedictorian medal and recognition after he gave the unapproved speech at graduation Sunday.

Now, the community is rallying behind Austin Tran with thousands signing an online petition. Ann Nguyen Tran shared her son’s story on her Facebook. She said her Austin was initially asked to write a three to four-minute speech.
