    Imagine, one day, 20% of all the people you work with deciding to quit. Slightly unsettling, no? But another two Tory resignations this week and that’s the figure we’re at now. A fifth of them deciding enough is enough. Any general election sees its share of natural wastage. Some people just retire, for example. Others see it as a chance to get out of Parliament and make some proper money. But 20% is something, isn’t it?

    Talk about demob-happy round here… I’ve never seen people more excited about the Easter holidays since primary school. Can’t really blame them, I suppose. There’s never a good week to be a Tory MP but it’s particularly tough at the moment. Although the last seven days didn’t have a lobbying/racism/sex scandal, they weren’t exactly pleasant for the Government. I guess they saw it coming but the Lords’ rejection of the flagship Rwanda legislation didn’t go down well.

    Olivia Colman has told how she was so nervous the night she scooped her Oscar that she had to take a beta blocker to calm down. The actress, 50, also revealed she ordered a high neck dress as she suffers from a huge rash when stressed. Colman won her gong in 2019 for The Favourite, the movie in which she played Queen Anne. She tells a new book: “I had been really anti anyone talking about it as I didn’t like the pressure. I had half a beta blocker because I was so nervous. It took away all my fear.
