The Sunday Mirror is the weekend counterpart of the Daily Mirror, established in 1915 under the name Sunday Pictorial. It adopted its current title in 1963. By 2011, it boasted an average weekly circulation of 1,845,683. During a competitive period in July 2011, shortly after the News of the World ceased publication, the Sunday Mirror saw sales exceed 2,000,000 copies, marking its best performance since January 2000.
