MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man was hospitalized after he was shot in Merced on Wednesday. The shooting happened in the area of Morning Dove Avenue and Sunrise Drive, just south of Merino Park. Merced city officials say the man was shot in his upper torso and leg. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It's unclear what happened leading up to the shooting, but officials say it appears to be targeted and not random.

KERN COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- An inmate who escaped outside a courthouse in Delano last year is now on the run after a shootout with authorities in Mexico on Wednesday. Several news outlets in Mexico have reported that Mexican police commander Abigail Esparza Reyes was killed in an exchange of gunfire with Cesar Hernandez in a Tijuana neighborhood. Reports say that officers from the U.S. and Mexico were trying to arrest Hernandez when the shooting began.

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Newly released footage captures a fight that broke out between a paramedic and a group of juveniles at a store in Clovis over the weekend. The video released by the Fresno County District Attorney's Office on Friday shows the fight unfolding between Herculano Tucay and the minors around 6 p.m. Sunday at the Target on Shaw and Clovis. The Clovis Police Department says Tucay and the juveniles exchanged words before things turned physical.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An investigation is underway after a suspicious package was dropped off at a Walmart store in central Fresno on Tuesday night. The Fresno Police Department says the package was left at the store on Blackstone and Ashlan. Photos from the scene show employees standing in the store's parking lot with officers near the front doors. Officials have not yet provided any other details about the object.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are working to find a three-year-old child after a carjacking in downtown Fresno on Friday. The incident happened around 5:30 pm near Mariposa and Fulton streets. Fresno police say a suspect jumped into silver-colored 2016 Honda CRV that was left running with the child inside. Officers say the child's father was injured while trying to stop the suspect. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition is currently unknown.
