NORWALK, Conn. — Airgas, a manufacturer and distributor of packaged gases and welding products, plans to relocate its South Norwalk operations to a larger site on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, previously occupied by Bolt Technology. Attorney Liz Suchy presented the company’s plans to the Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday, detailing a proposal to build a 5,500-square-foot warehouse on the corner of Duke Place and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Milligan’s next proposal: Apartments, hotel and retail to the old Riverview Plaza Developer Jason Milligan, the largest property owner in the Wall Street area, is looking to expand his portfolio by adding 96 apartments, 100 hotel rooms, and improved retail space around the office building at 24 Belden Avenue, which includes the old Riverview Plaza.

In an effort to more effectively support the city’s most vulnerable youth, Norwalk’s Community Services Department is working with the Fairfield County Community Foundation to establish systems to unite the efforts of the agencies and departments that now operate separately. “These young people are struggling in education, they’re often justice involved, social services, mental health services,” said Lamond Daniels, the city’s chief of community services.

Expanding the Marine Science Academy from its start at Brien McMahon High School to span all grades K-12 has been a big success, officials told the Board of Education on Tuesday, reporting on the first year of the “unique” program that provides hands-on learning. Brien McMahon launched the Marine Science Academy in 2019, and the school district expanded it last year, thanks to $1.3 million in federal funding.
