Fall can be bittersweet. In Wisconsin, we celebrate the abundance of local farms and our home gardens, but we also wave goodbye to warm weather, wildlife and the verdant landscape. It’s a good time to take extra care and lean into activities that bring us rest and reflection, like stretching your legs, reading a book, baking a pie or communing with friends and neighbors over the hard-earned fruits of summer. Mnookin, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and one of the most cited evidence law scholars in the nation, this week authored an editorial in the journal Science calling for a national commission of leading judges, scientists, legal academics and forensic practitioners to develop a framework ensuring forensic science that is admitted in courtrooms is valid and reliable.
