NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A local woman has closure after Newport News police solved a triple homicide case that happened back in 2023. Jennifer Jones-Futrell said she was at work when she got a call Wednesday about an arrest made in a shooting that killed three men, including her ex-husband. "It was the most relieving call. I was happy, mad, sad — all those emotions ran through my body. I broke down and cried. I'm just very thankful that they made this arrest," she said.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — If you've ever had trouble finding parking at the Newport News Costco, we've got good news. Costco is moving from its current spot in Jefferson Plaza to a larger space less than two miles away, city leaders tell News 3. The wholesale store will take over the Ferguson Enterprises office space on Jefferson Avenue and Bland Boulevard. City leaders say the move has many perks for shoppers: the space will have more parking and gas pumps, in addition to the larger store.

"My story looks like fear, rage, and resilience" said Kioni Jefferson, a domestic violence survivor. Kioni has certainly overcome the odds. "I fought until I couldn't swing anymore. In that process, my eye was blacked, my lip was busted again, all three bones were broken in my left ear, and my eardrum was blown out.

The Norfolk Health Department is sounding the alarm regarding the rise in cases. "We want everyone in this community to know what it is, what the risks are, how to get tested, where to get tested, and where to get treated" said Susan Girois, Director of the Norfolk Health Department.
