    NORFOLK, Va. — It's Hurricane Preparedness Week, and experts are encouraging residents across Hampton Roads to make sure they're ready before hurricane season officially starts. "I lived in Virginia Beach during Hurricane Matthew, and we were stuck inside for a week. So I was glad that I had what I had because I could not leave my house for a couple of days," said resident Pete Bessant.     NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — With a 1-day GoPass costing just under $5, Hampton Roads Transit is one of the most economical ways, and often the only way, for people to get around. Some regular riders told WTKR News 3 some additions they'd like to see on HRT's services. "That hour bus service on the weekends, some people don't really have the chance to really get out until the weekend. That hour on hour is too long waiting on a bus," said a regular HRT rider.

    NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Drivers on Interstate 64 through Newport News can expect significant traffic impacts beginning as early as May 5 as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) starts a long-term bridge rehabilitation project that will last through at least the rest of the year. VDOT announced that a series of single-lane closures will be implemented at two key overpasses: J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Hampton Roads Center Parkway.
