Bethany Bezak, who currently serves as the Transportation Department director for the City of San Diego, is one finalist. NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A New Orleans woman was shot through her front door early Saturday (April 12) by a stranger who tried forcing entry into her home, police said. The woman’s condition was not immediately disclosed. According to the NOPD, the would-be intruder attempted to break into the victim’s home in the 3700 block of Erato Street through the front door around 12:30 a.m.Unable to gain entry, the suspect then fired shots through the door into the home, wounding the woman, police said.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two people were killed and another wounded in two separate shootings early Sunday (April 6), New Orleans police said. The first shooting was reported in Uptown New Orleans around 2:49 a.m.According to the NOPD, two gunshot victims were found about five blocks apart. A man found in the 7700 block of Willow Street was taken for treatment but died at a hospital.

KENTWOOD, La. (WVUE) - A suspect is being sought after a man was fatally shot early Saturday (April 5) in what authorities described as a dispute over narcotics in Kentwood. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said it needs the public’s help to find and arrest 32-year-old Willie Elzy Wells Jr. The agency said Wells is wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder, armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

HAMMOND, La. (WVUE) - A 19-year-old Nigerian man living in Hammond has been arrested on dozens of child pornography allegations, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday (April 2). The agency said Ugochukwu Chukwudi was booked with 41 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13, and another 23 counts of pornography involving older children who are still minors.
