The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be holding open house meetings to discuss their plans to replace the shipping lock on the industrial canal. this plan will impact the Bywater, Holy Cross, the Lower Ninth Ward, and St. Claude neighborhoods.Officials are asking residents in those neighborhoods to attend the meetings to find out more information, give input, and learn about the construction that will take place in the area. The meetings will be happening the following days and locations.

Jefferson Parish deputies are investigating a shooting that left one juvenile dead and two other victims injured in Waggaman. Deputies say this happened around 11:15 p.m. Friday on Daffodil Lane. When deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered 2 juveniles and an adult suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officials are investigating a fire that ripped through a house in Jefferson Parish overnight, displacing three elderly women. This happened in the 1700 block of Estalote Avenue in Harvey.The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office noticed the smoke from blocks away, and the Harvey Volunteer Fire Company went to the scene. Officials say the flames were contained to the front bedroom. Two of the residents were awoken by smoke detectors and managed to get out of the house safely.

LAFOURCHE PARISH, Louisiana (WDSU) -- The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says a student from Central Lafourche High School has been arrested for online threats. Deputies say the student was charged after being identified as the singer in a rap song uploaded to YouTube last week that contained threats of violence to individuals at the school. The song contained thoughts of violence directed at specific teachers at the school.
