Braves utility player Luke Williams has truly done it all in the field. In his Braves career, he has played every infield position and left field, been designated hitter and in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Rockies even took a turn at pitching. He showed off another tool in his kit before Wednesday’s game at Truist Park – personal catcher for Usher.

Consecutive series wins over the Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies and now the New York Mets, who began Wednesday with the best record in the National League. An offense that has been coming through when games are on the line. The apparent return of the slumping closer. Dare we ask? Is it actually happening? After playing so far below their standards through the first third of the season, are the Braves finally going on their long-awaited run?

You sure hate it when a global sports monolith with a history of corruption and greed gets embarrassed on a worldwide scale. FIFA planned poorly and misjudged the appetite for the Club World Cup and is now marinating in its hubris. On Monday, the opening Club World Cup game in Atlanta drew the smallest attendance for a soccer game in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the building’s history, as 22,137 dotted the lower stadium bowl for a group-stage game between English club Chelsea and LAFC of MLS.

Hubris got in the way of a fairly interesting match Monday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. In the first Club World Cup held in the United States, LAFC of MLS gave global powerhouse Chelsea of the English Premier League more of a game than anyone might have expected. The team with six players with a higher estimated transfer market value than the entire LAFC roster was jostled around by the American underdogs and nearly gave up the game-tying goal — pardon me, the equaliser — in a 2-0 pool-play win.

Maybe the best part about Kevin McElhaney’s momentous family accomplishment — serving as a coach on GHSA state championship teams with each of his three daughters — is that it wasn’t in his original plans. In 2002, McElhaney returned to his hometown, Chickamauga, a small town in the northwest corner of Georgia, to coach football at Class A Gordon Lee High, his alma mater.

At MBS for Chelsea-LAFC for the Club World Cup. Still hard to believe FIFA approved two goals on each end. Anything to boost scoring. https://t.co/a9IZgvvf9e

One dad coached three daughters (including Falcons reporter @tori_mcelhaney) to six GHSA state championships in two sports, none of them as teammates. A column about a grateful dad and his accomplished daughters. https://t.co/ej4kilPz1I

Kirk Cousins at Falcons minicamp responding to a question from @JoshTheAthletic about his desire to be a starter in the NFL. “Obviously, you’d love to play, but I’m not going to dwell on things that aren’t reality in terms of that’s not the situation I’m in.” https://t.co/BCCKZmMQZK
