It's looking for your thoughts as more people move in, with more than 233,000 people living in Cape Coral. Cape Coral city leaders addressed concerns over the Sands Boulevard Bridge Wednesday at the Committee of the Whole meeting. Currently, those who drive along Sands Boulevard Bridge have to avoid barricades in Cape Coral. Also, northbound and southbound have to share a lane. The bridge, between SW 51st Street and SW 52nd Street in Cape Coral, sustained major damage from Hurricane Ian in 2022.More of the seawall failed because of erosion from Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Charlotte County commissioners unanimously approved to add school speed zones cameras to 17 schools Tuesday. You will get a $100 ticket if you go 10 miles over the speed limit. Taylor Cellemare, who sends her son to a Charlotte County public school, thinks this will make him and other students safer. "I see so many kids on their way to school, and you would not believe the amount that you see just passing by, not paying attention, not letting them across," Cellamare said.
