    MORE than 6,000 athletes descended on the Principality Stadium over the weekend as Cardiff hosted Wales’s first Hyrox event. The three-day event saw 6,042 people tackle the world’s largest mass-participation fitness race. Hyrox was founded in Germany in 2018 by race organiser Christian Toetzke and Olympian Moritz Fürste. Since then, 219 races have been held worldwide – 73 of them this year alone.

    At least 28 people have take ill after feeding and petting animals at a farm. A probe has been launched following a suspected outbreak of cryptosporidium - sometimes called crypto. The investigation is focused around those who attended calf and lamb feeding and petting sessions at Cowbridge Farm Shop at Marlborough Grange Farm in Cowbridge, south Wales. Cryptosporidium is a gastrointestinal infection that comes from parasites living in the faeces of infected animals.

    Plans have been published showing how a city bridge could be transformed. The underpass at Clare Road Bridge in Cardiff will have new lighting, resurfaced pavements and artwork installed, under the plans. The bridge links Grangetown and the city centre and runs alongside the River Taff. Iron plaques will be put on the floor, showing local landmarks and key events from the area's history. Cardiff Council say it will improve safety and accessibility when work starts later this year.

    Actors in all-black with 'fake weapons and bodies' have been spotted filming at a popular Cardiff location. Llandaff Cathedral has been closed off for filming production on Wednesday, April 2 for what is rumoured to be season two of the TV show Paris has Fallen. Actors, film crew and their equipment were seen opposite the cathedral with signs posted up warning residents of “replica weapons and fake bodies” that will be used in the area.

    Lolly, a two-year-old bull-type pup, has spent more than 250 days at Newport’s RSPCA Animal Care centre. Neglected as a puppy, the lonely dog has been at the centre since July 2024 and has been available for rehoming since September last year. She is the longest-staying dog at the Newport Animal Centre. “It’s heart-breaking that she has been overlooked for so long, and I know she’d thrive in a safe and secure home.
