Whitesboro, N.Y. — The New Hartford softball team suffered heartbreak at the hands of Camden in the Section III Class A championship last season. Things were different when the teams met on Thursday. The Spartans shut out the Blue Devils, 3-0, at Accelerate Sports Complex in Whitesboro. “Feels really good, especially since it (the championship) was such a rough game last year,” New Hartford sophomore Ruby Gehringer said.

Corcoran alum and 2020 All-CNY boys basketball player of the year Dejour Reaves announced where he will finish his collegiate career. On Wednesday night, the all-league guard posted his commitment to Fordham University on his X account. Reaves initially announced he’d be returning to Iona for his final season of eligibility, but the shocking firing of head coach Tobin Anderson led to Reaves and many other Gaels entering the transfer portal after the season.

Syracuse, N.Y. – The New York State Sportswriters Association released its first rankings for the 2025 season on Wednesday. Thirteen Section III teams are included in the initial rankings. No schools from Class AAA or AA made the cut this week. Three schools from Class A, two from Class B, four from Class C and four from Class D are in the rankings. The top-ranked teams in their respective classes are Chittenango at No. 12, Marcellus at No. 5, Sandy Creek at No. 11 and Stockbridge Valley at No. 4.
