Syracuse, N.Y. — In its first year of learning, the Fayetteville-Manlius flag football team seems to have picked things up pretty quickly down the stretch run. Section III started fielding that sport last year. Ryan Aldrich wanted his Hornets to join the fun right away, but there wasn’t quite enough time to get that program up and running. So Aldrich, an assistant on the boys varsity team, used his extra time to game plan for a 2025 debut.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Section III best girls lacrosse teams dug into the final syracuse.com poll of the season right where they deserved — near the very top. Defending state champion Cicero-North Syracuse survived a scare from West Genesee in the Class A final to repeat as section champion and hold on to the No. 1 position. Class D power South Jefferson cruised to a defense of its sectional title and stays entrenched at No. 2. Class C champ Jamesville-DeWitt stands at No. 3.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Bishop Grimes pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth and then held off pesky Utica Notre Dame in the top of the seventh to earn a 7-6 win and Section III Class C baseball title Tuesday night at Onondaga Community College. The Cobras (16-3) advance to the state tournament, where they will take on Section IV’s Deposit-Hancock Saturday at Conlon Field in Binghamton. The Jugglers rallied from a 4-0 deficit to take a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth.
