The big winner was Fayetteville-Manlius. The Hornets (9-5-2) defeated Cicero-North Syracuse on Tuesday to win the sectional title and earn a spot at No. 18. Syracuse, N.Y. — A trio of Section III’s six representatives in Class D improved their stock in this week’s New York State Sportswriters Association boys lacrosse poll, released Tuesday. The headliner was again Skaneateles (12-3), which crept a notch to No. 2. General Brown (10-6) also made up a little ground, grinding up two places to No. 14. And Lowville (13-3) sits in No. 20 by itself this week after sharing that spot last week.

Syracuse, N.Y. — South Jefferson enters postseason play with a share of the highest spot among Class D girls lacrosse teams in the state. The Spartans (15-1) moved up from No. 2 to a tie for No. 1 in this week’s New York State Sportswriters Association weekly rankings, released Tuesday.
