    Clarinda Academy saved its best for last as the Eagles traveled to Greenfield Friday, Oct. 19, to conclude the regular season with a non-district game against Nodaway Valley. The Eagles mounted a dramatic second half comeback, but ran out of time as they suffered a 42-36 loss to the Wolverines.     Clarinda Academy will wrap up its home football schedule Friday, Oct. 12, when the Eagles host Greene County in their final Class 2A District 8 contest of the season. The Eagles will be seeking their first win of the season, while Greene County enters the game with 2-2 district record and an overall mark of 3-4. The Rams pulled out a last second 28-21 win Friday, Oct. 5, over Clarinda. “We are looking to continue to improve every week,” Clarinda Academy coach Todd Thompson said.

    Kendall Gammon knows the importance of strength on and off the gridiron. Following a successful 15 year career in the National Football League (NFL) as a long snapper, Gammon now works as a broadcaster and motivational speaker. Gammon will serve as the keynote speaker Feb. 3 for the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet. The banquet will be held at the Clarinda Country Club, located at 1400 N. 16th St. in Clarinda, starting at 6 p.m. with a social time.

    An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10 for a Denison man who was arrested on a series of felony charges including firing at three officers from the Denison Police Department with an air rifle. Tyson Patrick Campbell, 53, was arrested Jan. 5 following an incident in the 200 block of South 15th Street in Denison.

    Raised on a large commercial sheep operation near Clarinda, Riley Nothwehr has developed a keen eye for quality livestock. Now, the Clarinda High School senior is putting that skill to use to advance her education. Nothwehr signed a letter of intent Jan. 10 at Clarinda High School to attend Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and join the school's livestock judging team. "Northeastern Oklahoma A&M has one of the longest standing and most successful collegiate livestock judging teams," Nothwehr said.
