(Des Moines) A Las Vegas, Nevada woman was sentenced to five years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance containing fentanyl that led to an overdose death in Iowa. According to public court documents, in the fall of 2023, 34-year-old Alicia Marie Hawkins was identified as a source of supply of fentanyl pills in the Southern District of Iowa. On September 11, 2023, Hawkins distributed a fentanyl mixture to the victim in Jefferson, Iowa.
