Hundreds of school pupils will take part in a 10.5km walk to mark the 105th anniversary of a school. Uppingham Community College is marking the milestone with the sponsored walk tomorrow (Friday, June 27), which 700 pupils will take part in. The walk through Uppingham, Bisbrooke, Seaton and Lydingdon aims to raise £10,500 for the school’s six nominated charities. The school marked its centenary in 2020 but was unable to celebrate because of lockdown.

An accident has closed a main road in Rutland. According to Rutland County Council’s highways team, the A6003 is closed between Manton and the A47 roundabout at Uppingham this evening (Wednesday, June 25), due to an accident. Police have closed the roadEmergency services and highways officers are at the scene. A diversion is in place via the A606, A1, A43 and A47.

More than 1,000 people got muddy during a fundraising event held for the first time in Rutland. Cancer Research UK hosted its Pretty Muddy Race for Life at Rutland Showground on Saturday, featuring a 5k mud-splatted obstacle course, with a separate option for children aged between six and 12.

Dozens of village homes are without water this afternoon (Sunday. June 22) due to pump problems. Anglian Water says the problem is affecting homes in Fulbeck, Leadenham, Welbourn, Brant Broughton and the surrounding area. Bottles of water are understood to have been sent to some of the affected properties. Anglian Water’s website says: “We have a problem with a few of our pumps that push water into your pipes.

A library which has been under threat of closure will remain open ‘in its current form and from its existing premises’. Rutland County Council issued a statement on the future of Ryhall Library ‘following a review of options’. The council placed the library under threat of closure after a survey found the cost of repairing and enhancing it it would ‘greatly exceed the amount of funding available for this work’.
