The best little Farmers Market in town opens for the season Saturday, April 26. This is the 14th year the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market has taken place on church grounds located at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church at 4344 Colgate Ave. and Douglas Avenue in University Park. The market was created in 2012 by The Reverend Bob Dannals and the late Guy Griffeth as a way to build community and provide fresh, locally grown and produced food to the community.

Spring is in the air, on the 49th floor of The National in fact, since Monarch restaurant introduced its new Spring Tasting Menu. Created and brilliantly prepared by Executive Chef Jason Rohan, the tasting menu is replete with spring’s greenest gems; English peas, asparagus, ramps, and watercress set alongside fresh seafood and local Wagyu. On a crystal clear evening in early April, I experienced Monarch’s new six-course spring tasting menu with wine pairings.

Good things come to those who wait, the saying goes. That’s good news for the throngs of us who missed proximity to great barbecue after Sonny Bryan’s closed its Lover’s Lane location in May 2022. Almost three years to the day, a second location of the award-winning Ten 50 BBQ will open in that same spot. Ten50 BBQ’s new store is slated to open in early May and will serve craft barbecue and classic sides all made on the premises.

WoodHouse, the family-owned hospitality group that develops, owns, and/or operates restaurants such as Café Dior and José, private clubs such as Park House, hotels, and music festivals, purchased T Bar M in December 2021.
