Although there are many different means of disseminating research findings not limited to social media, presentations at conferences, and posting on personal and institutional websites, publication in a peer-reviewed journal is recognized as paramount. The primary value of publication may be considered the dissemination of research findings.

Global temperature has risen faster from 1970 to 2020 than in any other 50-year period over that past 2000 years of human history (1). Climate change impacts many aspects of the environment, human society, and human health, including the distribution and activity of infectious disease. Out of 375 diseases considered to have a measurable impact on humanity, 58% showed evidence of an increase in severity that can be linked back to climate change (2).

Tuberculosis is an ancient disease that needs modern attention. According to the Global Tuberculosis Report from 2022, there were 6.4 million people newly diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB). Among them, 1.6 million people died (187,000 from HIV/TB coinfection) (1). Slow progress towards international goals has been impeded by the COVID-19 pandemic and associated disruption to health care services.

While many clinicians recognize the importance of bronchiectasis in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF), most cases occur in other patients worldwide, and its burden is underappreciated (1). Bronchiectasis is a clinical syndrome characterized by chronic cough, sputum production, and recurrent respiratory exacerbations, and the diagnosis is confirmed by computed tomography scans demonstrating abnormally dilated bronchi.
