Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, Herriott led the fight against six, City Council-supported, general election ballot measures, asking voters to approve development on city-owned property at 14th Street and The Strand.

Re: March 25 City Council Meeting April 11, 2025 After hearing comments from Councilmember Raymond Jackson in the March 25 Hermosa Beach City Council meeting regarding my short-term rental ban lawsuit, I am compelled to respond to him (“Hermosa Beach signals intent to fight short-term rentals challenge,” ER March 27, 2025). First, Jackson states I rent my entire home. That is not – and has never been – true. I have a single room that is otherwise unused, and that is the one I list on Airbnb.

by Kevin CodyPhoto by Matt ParkerSurfers checking the waves at 16th in Hermosa Beach Saturday morning instantly knew the meaning of the fluorescent red graffiti on the mouth of the storm drain whose runoff creates the sandbar that makes 16th Street worth checking every morning. The graffiti read “Greg Lives. God Bless Greg.” It meant Greg Browning was dead. Browning grew up surfing at 16th Street.

The Redondo Beach resident began the final round at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England three shots behind, in a six-way tie for seventh. She finished the final round with an eagle on the 18th hole for a one shot victory over runners-up Shanshan Feng, of China and Suzann Pettersen, of Great Britain.
