WISE – Eastside coach Suzi Atwood hoped her team would be able to bang out six hits in Thursday’s Region 1D softball championship game against J.I. Burton. Mission accomplished. The Spartans (25-2) doubled Atwood’s goal for hits with 12 and added a dozen runs to boot in taking a 12-1 win over The Raiders (16-11). The victory gave Eastside the region championship and the opportunity to host a VHSL Class 1 state quarterfinal game on Tuesday.
