    ROGERSVILLE — The Rogersville Police Department responded to a call in reference to a man threatening to shoot his wife around 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, causing Rogersville City School to go into lockdown. According to the Rogersville police report, two officers were dispatched to a residence on Reid Terry Drive. Central dispatch said the male may attempt suicide by the police. The officers shut down Reid Terry Drive and had central dispatch tell the female to go to a nearby parking lot.

    ROGERSVILLE — The Hawkins County Humane Society is partnering with Claws and Paws 4 a Cause and Pressman’s Home Rescue to get the public's animals spayed and neutered May 15.     ROGERSVILLE — The Hawkins County Budget Committee heard from a property assessment consultant about ratio studies for next year’s property reappraisals at Monday’s meeting. Property Assessment Consultant Gabe Looney from the UT County Technical Assistance Service explained what reappraisals were and what could be expected from the ratio studies, showing the commissioners a slide show. “There will be substantial increases in [property] value next year,” Looney said.

    CHURCH HILL — Volunteer High School junior Mackenzie Goad won the nail care portion at the SkillsUSA State Championship for the second year in a row. The competition was from April 13-16 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Mackenzie had to demonstrate skills in both acrylics and gel, and take a knowledge test that included questions on nail diseases and proper application of acrylics.
