WASHINGTON (7News) — After 21 months of Kwelli Sneed as an Interim Director, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is finally submitting Sneed's name to the D.C. Council asking it to appoint Sneed as the permanent Director of D.C.'s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE). One reason given for the appointment? A reduction in gun violence.

As far as 7News can tell, not much has changed at ONSE since last August when federal investigators said D.C. Councilman Trayon White accepted $35,000 in cash and agreed to accept $156,000 in bribes to help renew vendor contractors for violence interrupters with ONSE. ONSE's long-term goals include reducing violent gun crimes, shootings, and homicides, as well as reducing recidivism and victimization of at-risk populations.

WASHINGTON (7News) — 7News has learned Maryland U.S. Senator-Elect Angela Alsbrooks has not received an extension to pay off her unpaid property tax in Washington, D.C.She originally owed more than $47,000 after receiving a deal from the District that removed a 10% penalty and 25% of the bill's interest that grew over a decade. It got so big because she didn't pay her fair share of property tax over 13 years.

(7News)WASHINGTON (7News) — As we head into Election Day Tuesday, the 7News I-Team is looking into the final campaign finance reports for D.C. Ward 8 councilmember Trayon White. White was indicted and arrested on a federal bribery charge in August. The I-Team found he has not received any campaign donations since news broke of his arrest. The campaign spent $3,531.72 since the indictment.
