NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Thousands of protesters gathered in New Haven and Windsor for the ‘No Kings’ rally on Saturday. The’ No Kings’ protests took place in about 30 municipalities throughout the state. This comes as President Donald Trump made several executive orders since stepping into office that some residents disagree with. With President Trump in office, many residents told News 8 that they do not want a king or authoritarian policies.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A United States Postal Worker is recovering after a dog bit him multiple times on Monday afternoon. The incident happened at around 4:15 p.m. on Barbara Road in Middletown, Connecticut. Witnesses to the incident said the 5-year-old pit bull forced his way out of the screen door and chased the mailman down. The mailman suffered multiple dog bites including his left thigh, left wrist, right forearm, lower abdomen and the back of his head.

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — For decades, residents in the Hamden’s Newhall neighborhood have expressed their frustrations with the town regarding their crumbling home foundations. Homeowners Tina Jennings-Harriott and Tonya Campbell told News 8 that their home conditions are getting worse and that nothing is being done about it. According to state records, the homes in Hamden’s Newhall neighborhood were built on contaminated soils, where industrial waste was disposed of in wetlands in the 1930s to ’50s.

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — The Middletown Pride Fest brought the LGBTQ+ community together for a day full of celebrations on Saturday. The fest allowed the community to celebrate unity, diversity, and equality in honor of Pride month. This event was part of an effort to ensure that the LGBTQ+ community has a space to feel welcomed, celebrated and empowered in the community. According to Middletown Pride, the event organizers, the fest is one of the largest pride events in the city.
